A Camera-Less trip!
This weekend, I made a Sunday trip to Ohiopyle State Park, which is about an 1.5hrs from my house. I thought I would have been able to use my camera a lot. Turns out for the safety of my iPhone or actual camera this just wasn’t a reality!
We started with a 2mile hike on a relatively easy trail. While easy, this trail was a little on the muddy side so it made it a little slick. Thank goodness I opted for my old, old sneakers!
After a lunch of hot dogs and pulled pork cheese fries, we headed down to the river to cool off only to be surprised by a number of rather long water snacks chilling in the water too. I’m not a fan of snakes and to be perfectly honest, dirty river water really isn’t my thing either!
We then moved onto the natural waterslides. This area was secluded in the woods and was extremely pretty. The water was cold, but rather clear in comparison from the river water we had just left.
Naturally, my sister and I sent the guys down the natural waterslides first. We weren’t a huge fan of the large number of people lining the slide watching (my black bikini which I strategically wore for it’s color so that dirt wouldn’t show is probably also my tiniest bikini and that scares me!) and were also worried about the fact that no one was actually riding it.
Two guys went down, two guys came up rather sore!
An older man has indicated to us that he rode these once 30 yrs ago and hasn’t done it since! I guess the word natural is a problem here. There are plenty of loose rocks than make for a bumpy ride, plus the fact that you are banging off rocks as you slide. If I want to ride a waterslide, I think I’ll stick to water park slides!
We did have a lot of fun watching people ride the slide though! A majority of riders were kids, who didn’t seem to be bothered by the possibility of pain or getting hurt. Oh to be a child again!
We finished the day off with some root beer floats.
It was a great day and I’m excited to go back…maybe some white water rafting next time?
Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Root beer floats to end the day! Sounds like a great weekend to me!
Snakes should die-terribly and deathly afraid of them. Sounds like a fun and adventurous trip! I agree with both you and Alex, Root bear floats to end the day is necessary 😜
