And it’s the last giveaway of my Week of Giveaways! This week flew by. Be sure to make a quick entry into the other 5 giveaways. It only takes 1 comment to win and trust me, you’ll be trying some very awesome products!

This last review and giveaway is courtesy of the wonderful people at Gnu Foods. Gnu Foods makes fiber bars that are all natural, contain nearly 50 percent of your DV of fiber, are low in calories and are great for people following Weight Watchers.

When two boxes packed with baked fibers bars showed up on my door step, I could not wait to dig in.

Flavors include:

  • Blondie Bar
  • Blueberry Cobbler
  • Carrot Cake
  • Banana Walnut
  • Chocolate Brownie
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cinnamon Raisin
  • Orange Cranberry
  • Expresso Chip

My Thoughts:

  • My absolute favorites were the Blondie, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Brownie. Yes, I have a major sweet tooth. Overall, I didn’t find a flavor that I wouldn’t eat though.
  • Flavor and Fiber is definitely and accurate description. These baked bars were far from bland!
  • They kinda reminded me of homemade baked-goods instead of your typical “card board-tasting” fiber bar.
  • For my vegan friends, they are vegan!
  • Perfect if you are in need of fiber and want to enjoy eating it!
  • Nutritious!

Gnu Foods want you to try their Flavor and Fiber bars too!

To win your own (remember to leave a comment for each task you complete, saying “I completed everything” in one comment will only earn you one entry!)

1. Tell me what flavor you have to try!

2. Follow me on Twitter @blogitness

3. Tweet about the giveaway

4.  ”Like” Gnu Foods on Facebook (this is a requirement to win!!)

Thanks to Gnu Foods for sponsoring such an awesome giveaway!

(I was not compensated for this review. I did receive complimentary Flavor and Fiber. This review reflects my own opinions!)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am a huge, huge fan of flavored waters! I jump at any chance to try new waters. I should take a picture of my fridge for you to see my variety…I seem to have more water than food. When Amy at Herbal Water offered to do a review and giveaway on Blogitness, I was stoked!

Herbal Water’s Story:

The Herbal Water story begins in the spring of 2005, in the garden of Dr. Ayala.  A passionate cook, trained pediatrician, talented artist and lifelong vegetarian, Dr. Ayala has spent years exploring healthy, tasty ways to feed children and adults.

Seeking an alternative to sugar-laden and artificially flavored beverages, Dr. Ayala created her own blends of herb-infused waters that magically satisfy thirst and restore the spirit.  Among her family and friends, Dr. Ayala’s herbal waters became famous for their uniquely refreshing tastes and aromas.

Full of flavor yet free of calories, artificial sweeteners, and artificial chemicals, these naturally fragrant beverages evoke happy feelings, like a breeze in a sunny garden.

The growing demand for these tasty herbal waters led Dr. Ayala to bring Ayala’s Herbal Water to everyone.

Ayala’s Herbal Water is the first nationally available organically certified enhanced flavored water made with all organic ingredients.  Each Herbal Water blend is all-natural and sets a new standard for healthy beverages:  zero calories, zero artificial sweeteners, flavors, and colors, and zero chemical preservatives.  And our water comes from an Artesian Well in Virginia.

Nothing but great taste from pure water, infused with the finest natural herbs from around the world and kept fresh in a beautiful bottle for your enjoyment.

I received a sample box, which included the following flavors:

  • Lemongrass Mint Vanilla
  • Lavender Mint
  • Lemon Verbena Geranium
  • Cloves Cardamom Cinnamon
  • Cinnamon Orange Peel
  • Ginger Lemon Peel

My thoughts:

  • Ayala’s Herbal Water is one of the more unique waters I have tried.
  • I 5 of 6 flavors, I’m not an orange person at all!
  • The flavors were unique and very flavorful.
  • The Lemongrass Mint Vanilla was very lemon-y and refreshing.
  • The Cloves Cardamom Cinnamom had an apple cider-like taste and reminded me of a cool fall day, which I wouldn’t mind in this heat!
  • I would definitely purchase these waters. They are unique and unlike a vast majority of waters you’ll find on the shelf!

Would you like to try Ayala’s Herbal Water?

Here’s what you go to do to win a gift pack with six flavors from Ayala’s:

  •   Like Ayala’s on Facebook
  •   Follow them on Twitter
  •   Sign up for their newsletter
  •   Follow me on Twitter @blogitness.
  •   Tweet about the giveaway.

I’m a huge fan of nutrition bars. I find them perfect for when I am on-the-go (although I try not to make a habit of eating them when I’m at home and have time to prepare a healthy breakfast or snack). I love trying different bars and different flavors. When Jacob at PureFit offered to send me a sample kit of their nutrition bars, I was extremely excited.

This package arrived in my mailbox:

The only downfall was that they arrived on a very, very warm day. By the time I had gotten to them, I could tell they were going to be a little soft if I opened them immediately or a little reformed if I waited to open them! But, did it matter? They don’t need to look pretty for me to enjoy the flavor and the benefits!

Instead the package was:

  • Chocolate Brownie
  • Almond Crunch
  • Peanut Butter Crunch
  • Granola Crunch
  • Berry Almond Crunch

I love chocolate, brownies, granola and peanut butter, so I was extremely excited with the selection.

My Thoughts:

  • I loved the flavors (my favorite would have to be Peanut Butter Crunch). I was even a fan of the almond flavors, which I’ll have to admit I was a little skeptical at first to try. I like nuts, but I prefer nutrition bars to be a little sweeter.
  • I really think the tastes are something anyone would enjoy from a student-athlete to the busy professional.
  • I really enjoyed reading the nutrition label (the nerdy grad. student in me!). These are perfect for pretty much everyone. Whether you are vegan or gluten-free, you can enjoy a PureFit bar!
  • 18 grams of protein! I sampled these bars when I was extremely busy. I sampled them when I knew I was going to have to go a good amount of times between meals. They definitely kept me full!

Overall, I really enjoyed PureFit bars. They taste great, fill you up, are perfect for everyone and are far from lacking when it comes to traditional value!

The good news is, PureFit is offering to give one lucky reader a case!

On a hot summer day, who doesn’t love a refreshing drink? Better yet, who doesn’t love a refreshing drink after a long run or tough workout? When Lucy from O.N.E. Coconut Water offered to send me samples and a run a giveaway on my blog, I was extremely excited. I’ve tried a number of coconut waters. I’ve liked some and others unfortunately went to waste.

Here are my thoughts:

  • I love the packaging. It reminds me of a juice box for elementary school!
  • The taste was subtle. Not bland, but not too sweet.
  • It went down smoothly. I’ve tasted some coconut waters that almost seem thick.
  • It kept me hydrated. Upon finishing the drink, I wasn’t compelled to grab another drink soon after.
  • I enjoyed the taste. This is plain coconut water and it didn’t need any added flavoring to make it enjoyable.

O.N.E. has so graciously offered to give 2 winners a case of O.N.E. Coconut Water!!

I am a huge fan of flavored waters! I gave up pop (or soda, whatever you’d prefer to call it) and have been hooked on various waters since I’ve been about 20. Seven years later, I am always looking to try different waters. When Morgan at Metromint offered to send me a sample package of Metromint to review…I was extremely excited! I had seen Metromint in stores and to be honest, the thought of a flavor (let’s use chocolate for example) mixed with mint and water scared me a little bit!

The sample package included:

  • Peppermint Water
  • Spearmint Water
  • Orangemint Water
  • Chocolatemint Water
  • Cherrymint Water
  • Metroelectro

About Metromint (directly from the site):

Metromint is the brain-child of Rio Miura and Scott Lowe. Miura was born in Japan and has a background in product and fashion design. She conceived the recipe for Metromint and designed the label and bottle. Lowe, a Stanford graduate with a degree in International Relations, is responsible for product development and manufacturing. Together the two formed Soma Beverage Company in a loft in San Francisco’s South of Market district (SOMA), a neighborhood that is home to artists, high-tech start-ups, and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Combining the purest ingredients with innovative packaging and extraordinary taste, Metromint single-handedly created a new beverage category called mintwater. Metromint already has a loyal following. Metromint was introduced to the public at the New York Fancy Food Show in 2004.

With purified water and mint, I was extremely excited to try these waters. With no calories, no sweeteners and all-natural ingredients, Metromint provides a rather unique cooling sensation to help quench your thirst. Metromint provides vibrant flavor — that isn’t too strong or not too faint. The flavoring is just right!

I truly enjoyed all of the flavors. I am a huge fan of cherry, peppermint and spearmint. So, I never had any doubt in my mind that I was going to enjoy these flavors. I was a little bit worried about the chocolatemint and orangemint. I have never been a fan of citrus flavors and generally think that mint and chocolate should only go together in the form of girl scout cookies. However, Metromint proved me wrong and I loved them both!

Chocolatemint water may just be my new flavor of water!

Included in my package was also a sample bottle of MetroElectro. MetroElectro is macronutrient water that contains antioxidants, zinc and electrolytes. I saved this one for some electrolyte replacement after a run and would definitely buy it again!

Overall, I loved these products! Metromint products have an awesome flavor and are good for you too — with all natural ingredients. Take it from a flavored-water junkie, you’ll love them!

How would you like to win some Metromint of your own. The wonderful people at Metromint have offered to give one lucky reader a case of Metromint along with a reusable bag!

To enter (please leave one comment for each entry so that I know you’ve completed it!):

  • Comment and tell me why you want to try Metromint.
  • Follow me on Twitter. @blogitness.
  • Tweet about the giveaway.
  • Like Metromint on Facebook.
  • Follow Metromint on Twitter. @metromint

You have five ways to enter to win! Good luck! A winner will be randomly selected on Friday morning.

(I was not compensated for this review. This review reflects my honest opinion of the product. I did, however, receive complimentary Metromint to review.)

I have exciting news for all you runners and athletes out there, the wonderful Kari at Aspaeris has sent me a pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts to review!! Okay…that might not be that exciting for you, but the really exciting part is that one lucky reader will receive their own pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts courtesy of the wonderful folks at Aspaeris!!

According to the Aspaeris website:

Aspaeris Pivot Shorts™ are actually two pairs of shorts bonded together. The Outer Short is a high performance compression short designed to support your muscles. The Inner Short features our breakthrough, Dual Sensory Compression Bands™. These cross-knit bands guide your muscles into the proper position, thereby improving your pivot performance, which helps prevent ACL and hip injuries.

These shorts are designed to help prevent ACL injuries as well as hip injuries in female runners and athletes. This is because the shorts provide compression, which can help to prevent injury!

Being someone who always seems to find herself with an injury, I was extremely excited to give these shorts a try!  I received the Aspaeris Pivot Shorts in white (excuse my lack of pictures, my camera is currently in a suitcase that I don’t feel like unpacking at the moment!) The first thing I noticed is that they look extremely tiny. However, they are compression shorts and did fit rather well when I got them on! (I requested a size small…I normally wear a 2 or size 26 in jeans and dress pants).

I tested these shorts out while:

  • Running….great on hamstrings!
  • Walking….stayed cool even in 90 degree heat and not a cloud in the sky!
  • Yoga ….felt amazing on the hips!
  • After strenuous activity…awesome recovery tool for temperamental hamstrings!

They were comfy and did really well in the hot weather! I wore them underneath a pair of running shorts, but also believe I’d be more than comfortable wearing them by themselves with a long tank top. They stayed in place and didn’t ride up. They provided great support to my upper legs, which is awesome for someone who seems to be continuously plagued with hamstring pain as the result of a strain last summer. They also felt great on the hips, I seem to get occasional hip pain as the result of I-wish-I-knew-what!

Pivot Shorts

Overall, I give these shorts two thumbs up and would definitely purchase another pair!

If you’d like to receive your own pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts, complete one or more of the following tasks for entries into the giveaway (be sure to comment below about all the tasks you’ve completed in order for your Twitter entries to count!). Up to 3 comments per person!

  1. Leave a comment telling me why you need (or want) these compression shorts!
  2. Follow me on twitter @blogitness.
  3. Tweet about the giveaway! Be sure to link to it!

One winner will randomly be selected Friday morning!

Good luck and thanks again to the wonderful folks at Aspaeris!
