How amazing does this cookies ‘n cream cupcake look? It was amazing and very sweet. In fact, there was so much icing on it that it had to be eaten with a fork…it was a little on the top-heavy side.

This lovely, tasty treat called for a good workout. Which is why I was extremely happy to see this circuit (the Quick n Dirty Circuit) workout from Lena at Fit on the Rocks.

Now it is time for some work and later, a little shopping. I absolutely love shopping around the time of my birthday. The $10 Victoria Secret birthday card and the $15 LOFT certificate mailed to me for having credit cards at each store are absolutely burning a hole in my pocket. What better way to solve this problem than to spend them, right?

Question for you:

Any recommendations on a reasonably priced hotel in Washington DC with a good location?

Enjoy your Thursday!

Top 5 Ways to Get Over Writer's Block by Peri Kinder.

I went away Sunday and Monday on a fabulous little ski trip and ever since then I’ve been struggling to get back into work-mode. It’s Wednesday and my list of freelance work is continuing to mount. This is not good! I seem to wonder from what I am writing very, very easily. I write a sentence, then I’ll go do something else for awhile, come back write another sentence, etc… It’s going to be a very long rest of the week!

I cannot even think of anything exciting to put in this post! Major struggle.

I took a brief break from working attempting to work today and did a little shopping. LOFT is having a great sale! Pants – 14.88, Button down shirt -9.88, Scarf- 4.88, Grey cardigan – 9.99 I’d call that a successful shopping trip!

The one complaint I have about clothes in general is jeans. I’m 5’7″ and feel like jeans are made for people over six foot tall. I like wearing flats and comfy shoes. I’ve bought jeans in the past with the intent of altering them. I still have a pair of jeans sitting around from two years ago that I haven’t gotten altered!

PS- I am looking for fitness and nutrition professionals for a series of healthy living articles. If you are a fitness or nutrition professional, who has an interest in being interviewed for a Pittsburgh website (non-Pittsburghers welcome), let me know!

I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I walk into Trader Joe’s — this time the candy part is actually true though. Aside from meat and cheese, I bought all goodies! They have an awesome selection of Christmas treats! I never in a million years thought I would enjoy food shopping as much as I enjoy a trip to LOFT (speaking of LOFT, check out my cute new flats below!). Is this a sign I am getting old? Not too mention, I am unbelievably excited about my blender I know my parents purchased for me for Christmas!  A trip to Trader Joe’s and lunch was just what I needed to break up the monotony of some of my work today. I freelance mainly in the health and fitness industries, but sometimes pick up extra projects in various fields (if the pay is right) and these projects have a tendency to bore me.

Lunch at W.G. Grinders was amazing. Plus it only cost .05 cents — for two sandwiches, two cookies and two drinks — because I had a Groupon I had purchased months ago and finally used it.

Here are some of my awesome finds! (now I should probably get back to work and then onto some freelance pitches and maybe a little cleaning)

  • Candy
  • Chocolate Covered Pretzels
  • Candy Cane Green Tea
  • Brownie protein bars

Five weeks ago today at precisely this time — well maybe not precisely this time I probably didn’t even know what time it was courtesy of my “happy medicine.” — I was laughing, having a good ole time (considering I was in an OR I was, seriously!) and the next thing I knew I woke up with a very large bandage on my foot. Five weeks later, I’m feeling fabulous! (well, not fabulous enough to do anything crazy, but I can wear regular shoes with ease and have even purchased a pair of heel — that I’m saving for when I am completely pain free). Now, that’s progress (in my book anyways).

You can hardly even see the incision!

don't mind my super dry skin. I apply lotion like crazy and nothing helps!

Today’s workout:

I gave this medicine ball workout from Women’s Health a try and am feeling pretty good so far:

A more exciting sidenote: I got an invite from Pinterest!

Another quick update: I was finally able to score some awesome deals at LOFT.com :)

There is something about rainy days that would make me rather curl up under the covers and sleep opposed to work, workout or do anything productive. Yesterday, when I was procrastinating, I found some much needed inspiration on Pinterest. I figured I’d share. Enjoy…while I attempt to be productive. Hopefully, a very productive post later!

On a sidenote, I’d just like to vent about my online LOFT shopping experience last night. I’m a huge LOFT fan. I love their clothes, shoe, accessories and not too mention I LOVE a great sale. 50 percent off everything is a great sale plus free shipping. The site wasn’t working for hours and then it worked — I was really excited! However, I tried to purchase about 15 items — all of which were not available! Why have them on the website if you can’t purchase them!
