Hey Strangers!

I’m back again after about a week and a half of non-stop chaos! First, I want to take this opportunity to share a Pittsburgh Blogger Meet-up event with anyone who may live in the Pittsburgh-area.

If you are in the area and interested in attending, the more the merrier! Leave a comment for details. In the meantime, check out stelladot.com for a look at all the jewelry and accessories Stella and Dot has to offer!

Second, my brother’s wedding was amazing. I don’t think anyone could say they didn’t have a good time!

Third, I accepted and will be starting my new job at the end of the month! I will be working in research at a University in the area and am very excited about the opportunity. Additionally, I will receive amazing discounts on tuition. I’m thinking a fourth degree!

If you could pursue an additional degree at virtually no cost, what would you choose?

Well, it’s time to get some laundry done, get packing for a hiking trip and attend another wedding. I strongly dislike packing an am not looking forward to this. If anyone has any suggestions as to what I  should pack for a hiking trip, please let me know!

Enjoy your weekend!

Long time, no see! So shortly after announcing my new job, I did something stupid (for anyone who knows me this should not be at all surprising). I was hitting some wiffle balls in a pair of flip flops. When I stepped forward to hit the ball, I lost my footing and successfully rolled my ankle. The end results: an ankle sprain (granted I came to that conclusion myself). As if I have not had enough foot/ankle problems in the past three years. This will definitely be putting a damper on my running plans. However, its much better to just let it heal than to keep going on it.

On the plus side, my new job is awesome. I will be working from home for the remainder of the week creating a series of blog posts for various wellness companies, which I am very excited about.

Aside from the ankle issue (which I am still debating whether or not it is necessary to see a doctor about. The swelling is gone, but I am enjoying the constant burning pain and instability. I’ve never sprained anything before, so I am all ears on any suggestions as to how to fix this, I know some of you have advice for me!!), this week is looking good for it only being Tuesday afternoon.

So far:

  • Started a new job.
  • Got my food pen pals package in the mail, which I will be posting more about at the end of next week. I’ve got lots of awesome goodies to try.
  • Free Rita’s Italian Ice today.
  • The weather is amazing (I actually wore shorts to work today. It seems more like the first day of summer rather than the first day of spring. I will most definitely be working outside tomorrow and hopefully the remainder of the week.

What are you most looking forward to this week?

It finally happened! After a long search and a whole lot of uncertainty as to where I wanted to take my career, it finally happened. I find a full-time writing job that meets my criteria with a local marketing firm. The job is salaried, so I may or may not be working a full forty hour week and I can work from my house or the office depending on my own personal preference. There is a lot of room for advancement, which is something I feel is majorly lacking in a career as a freelance journalist. Additionally, this job involves a lot of writing for health, fitness and nutrition clients, which makes me happy.

I’m excited to be bringing some more structure to my life, but this does not mean that I will be giving up on freelance writing. I still plan on working for some of my existing clients and if I feel I have a great idea for a magazine/website I will still be pitching that idea!

I am extremely content with the decision I have made and cannot wait to see where this career path takes me. And I start Monday, so I won’t be waiting long to get moving!

P.S.: I am still majorly blog-slacking for the past couple of weeks! I’ve got so much going on it is crazy!

Happy Friday!

I’ve been major blog slacking this week. The newest addition to the family is keeping me extremely busy!

I’ve also been extremely busy with freelance work and investigating a new employment opportunity. I’ve designed to sign with a marketing company to work as a marketing consultant. I can work as much or as little as I want, but will have the opportunity to take on company benefits — including health insurance and 401K. It’s still work from home, but I’ll be out and about in the city meeting with clients. I’ve already landed my first client meeting next week! I’ve always enjoyed marketing, social media and a little web design, so I am extremely excited to get started. If you know anyone who needs a marketing consultant *hint! hint!* contact me, we work all over the country!

Today’s workout:

Working the arms! I’m suffering from some knee pain from skiing…this seems to be a nagging issue!

Any exciting plans for this weekend?

I’m at the doctor’s office again. Blogging from a waiting room may be one of the weirdest places to blog from. Everyone in the waiting room is glued to the TV watching whatever soap opera is currently on! I feel like I am making too much noise by typing. I’ve also had a lady ask me when I was graduating High School…I always thought I looked young; but high school seems a bit excessive. Then again, when I had my surgery I had multiple nurses try to yell at my for signing consent forms because they thought I was 16 yrs old. Meanwhile, I probably recited by DOB at least a dozen times that day…I was born in 1985, not 1995!!!!

Do you look young for your age? How old do people normally think you are?

Anyways back to waiting! I cannot wait to see what my foot looks like under these bandages this time. Hopefully better than last time! It’s like unwrapping a very odd present on Christmas morning. I’ll be very excited if I walk out of this office wearing two matching shoes :)

They are calling my name!

Here’s a photo a snapped really quickly…I always have a fear of someone coming in a room when I am taking an odd picture. If I ever get busted, I plan on saying I’m taking a picture for my very curious sister (who is an RN). I think that should get me out of an awkward situation. What do you think?

And the good news is… I walked out of the office wearing my own shoes…no more big, bulky boot!

And then I was pleasantly surprised to come home and find out that I have been hired by a local community college to be an instructor in the community education department!

Have your ever been busted taking an awkward picture for the sake of blogging?
