The Bulu Box I received contained?

I’d say my favorite product was the Night Food. It was a cookie ‘n cream snack bar that certainly beats eating a sleeve of oreos while watching TV at night! It contains melatonin, which is supposed to provide for a better night’s sleep. I did feel well-rested in the morning but I also did go to bed earlier than I normally do. It tasted great as well!

I also really liked the RevHoney. At first, I thought I was sent a tube of lip gloss! Really, I received a small tube of honey and dehydrated fruit which is designed to give you energy. Perfect for on-the-go!

I really liked the wide-variety of products and the fact I was provided enough of each product to make a decision about whether or not I actually liked it. Free shipping is also a plus!

Have you tried any subscription boxes out lately?

Inspired by Peanut Butter Energy Bites, I decided to use a little bit of creativity to add a protein twist to this tasty and very easy-to-make recipe! Warning: You all are probably going to be reading a lot about Peanut Butter coming up. I’m on quest to free up some cabinet space!

When the wonderful Jean at NeoCell offered to send me Belgian Chocolate Collagen Sport Whey Isolate Complex to try, I was extremely excited! I was even more surprised when a full-sized jar of protein powder made it’s way to my front door. The folks at NeoCell are extremely generous! While exchanging e-mails with Jean, she had indicated that she sprinkled some of this protein powder over iced-coffee. I absolutely loved this idea. It was the perfect way to get protein without having to break out the blender and make shake or smoothie.

The Belgian chocolate taste is amazing and added some additional flavor to my iced-coffee. I’ve also made numerous smoothies and shakes with NeoCell and have absolutely loved it. I honestly never felt like I was drinking a protein-packed drink. My drinks ended up tasting more like a dessert from an ice cream place — which was AMAZING. This protein powder tastes great and kept me feeling full, which made it the perfect mid-morning snack before meeting that lasted through lunch time!

I give NeoCell two thumbs up! And as an added bonus, I’ve discovered that baking with protein powder (great tasting protein powder) can be extremely fun!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bites

(They aren’t the prettiest, but they taste great!)

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of Chocolate Protein Powder (I strongly recommend NeoCell Belgian Chocolate!)

1/2 cup of sugar

1 cup of Peanut Butter

1 Egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix all ingredients together until evenly mixed. The dough will be thick and sticky.
  3. Roll dough into small balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Should make 12 protein bites.
  4. Bake for 10-12
  5. Enjoy!

(Note: if you’ve made Peanut Butter Energy Bites, you may have noticed that the cookie doesn’t expand. This cookie will expand so be sure to leave room on your cookie sheet!)

I am a huge fan of flavored waters! I gave up pop (or soda, whatever you’d prefer to call it) and have been hooked on various waters since I’ve been about 20. Seven years later, I am always looking to try different waters. When Morgan at Metromint offered to send me a sample package of Metromint to review…I was extremely excited! I had seen Metromint in stores and to be honest, the thought of a flavor (let’s use chocolate for example) mixed with mint and water scared me a little bit!

The sample package included:

  • Peppermint Water
  • Spearmint Water
  • Orangemint Water
  • Chocolatemint Water
  • Cherrymint Water
  • Metroelectro

About Metromint (directly from the site):

Metromint is the brain-child of Rio Miura and Scott Lowe. Miura was born in Japan and has a background in product and fashion design. She conceived the recipe for Metromint and designed the label and bottle. Lowe, a Stanford graduate with a degree in International Relations, is responsible for product development and manufacturing. Together the two formed Soma Beverage Company in a loft in San Francisco’s South of Market district (SOMA), a neighborhood that is home to artists, high-tech start-ups, and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Combining the purest ingredients with innovative packaging and extraordinary taste, Metromint single-handedly created a new beverage category called mintwater. Metromint already has a loyal following. Metromint was introduced to the public at the New York Fancy Food Show in 2004.

With purified water and mint, I was extremely excited to try these waters. With no calories, no sweeteners and all-natural ingredients, Metromint provides a rather unique cooling sensation to help quench your thirst. Metromint provides vibrant flavor — that isn’t too strong or not too faint. The flavoring is just right!

I truly enjoyed all of the flavors. I am a huge fan of cherry, peppermint and spearmint. So, I never had any doubt in my mind that I was going to enjoy these flavors. I was a little bit worried about the chocolatemint and orangemint. I have never been a fan of citrus flavors and generally think that mint and chocolate should only go together in the form of girl scout cookies. However, Metromint proved me wrong and I loved them both!

Chocolatemint water may just be my new flavor of water!

Included in my package was also a sample bottle of MetroElectro. MetroElectro is macronutrient water that contains antioxidants, zinc and electrolytes. I saved this one for some electrolyte replacement after a run and would definitely buy it again!

Overall, I loved these products! Metromint products have an awesome flavor and are good for you too — with all natural ingredients. Take it from a flavored-water junkie, you’ll love them!

If you are like me, chances are you hate carrying a water bottle when you go for a run or walk — even though you know how important it is to stay hydrated!

The wonderful folks at Kenmark Sports (thank you Lisa for sending me this product to review!).

The first thing I noticed when I unwrapped the water bottle is that there is a place for an MP3 player or smart phone. My iPhone fit perfectly into this slot, along with my key and a little bit of money (sometime I enjoy running to get ice cream…this may defeat the purpose of running sometimes but that’s okay). I now had everything I needed in one convenient place.

My biggest concern with the water bottle was whether or not it was going to stay on my arm despite having adjustable straps. My arms are relatively small and I don’t have a whole lot of upper body strength. I was also worried that the bottle on my arm would irritate me as a moved. Since there is only one way to find out how things work…I decided to put it to the test.

I laced up my sneakers and decided to give it a go. Here’s what I found:

  • The water bottle stayed in place. I feared I was going to constantly be adjusting the straps.
  • The straps are very breathable and my arm did not feel restricted during the run.
  • With the clear plastic covering, I was easily able to use my iPhone.
It did take a little getting used to. I’ve never ran or walked with anything attached to my arm (I don’t even have an arm band for my iPhone, I normally just tuck it into the waist band of my shorts). I was able to walk and run plenty of hills without any problems and I really enjoyed the fact that I had water with me without having to carry a bottle or stop at a water fountain (eek…germs!)

(I was not paid for this review, I did receive a complimentary water bottle to review)

I have exciting news for all you runners and athletes out there, the wonderful Kari at Aspaeris has sent me a pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts to review!! Okay…that might not be that exciting for you, but the really exciting part is that one lucky reader will receive their own pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts courtesy of the wonderful folks at Aspaeris!!

According to the Aspaeris website:

Aspaeris Pivot Shorts™ are actually two pairs of shorts bonded together. The Outer Short is a high performance compression short designed to support your muscles. The Inner Short features our breakthrough, Dual Sensory Compression Bands™. These cross-knit bands guide your muscles into the proper position, thereby improving your pivot performance, which helps prevent ACL and hip injuries.

These shorts are designed to help prevent ACL injuries as well as hip injuries in female runners and athletes. This is because the shorts provide compression, which can help to prevent injury!

Being someone who always seems to find herself with an injury, I was extremely excited to give these shorts a try!  I received the Aspaeris Pivot Shorts in white (excuse my lack of pictures, my camera is currently in a suitcase that I don’t feel like unpacking at the moment!) The first thing I noticed is that they look extremely tiny. However, they are compression shorts and did fit rather well when I got them on! (I requested a size small…I normally wear a 2 or size 26 in jeans and dress pants).

I tested these shorts out while:

  • Running….great on hamstrings!
  • Walking….stayed cool even in 90 degree heat and not a cloud in the sky!
  • Yoga ….felt amazing on the hips!
  • After strenuous activity…awesome recovery tool for temperamental hamstrings!

They were comfy and did really well in the hot weather! I wore them underneath a pair of running shorts, but also believe I’d be more than comfortable wearing them by themselves with a long tank top. They stayed in place and didn’t ride up. They provided great support to my upper legs, which is awesome for someone who seems to be continuously plagued with hamstring pain as the result of a strain last summer. They also felt great on the hips, I seem to get occasional hip pain as the result of I-wish-I-knew-what!

Pivot Shorts

Overall, I give these shorts two thumbs up and would definitely purchase another pair!

If you’d like to receive your own pair of Aspaeris Pivot Shorts, complete one or more of the following tasks for entries into the giveaway (be sure to comment below about all the tasks you’ve completed in order for your Twitter entries to count!). Up to 3 comments per person!

  1. Leave a comment telling me why you need (or want) these compression shorts!
  2. Follow me on twitter @blogitness.

It’s Sunday and I am desperately hoping for a Pittsburgh Penguins win in Philadelphia today! I’m not sure what those guys have been up to during the last two games, but they need to play the full 60 minutes today! I went to the first game and it was only enjoyable for the first 20 minutes! Going down 3-0 in Philly is really, really bad. So, Let’s Go Pens!!!

The other day, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a whole lot of nut butters in the mail courtesy of Artisana Organic Foods. Since I know I am not the first and probably won’t be the last blogger to receive this package I am going to keep my thoughts short and sweet. I received two full-sized jars and eight individual packets of nut butters with flavors including coconut, pecan walnut, cashew and more. Overall, I would definitely purchase this product. I enjoyed every flavor (don’t worry I haven’t eat it all yet). The Artisana products have turned into my new breakfast food. I put them on toast, bagels and waffles. I’d highly recommend them!
